TO JUICE OR NOT TO JUICE?

Earlier this week I tried a fad that I've been curious about for awhile now. I've been traveling a lot since the holidays, and I felt like I need to hit the figurative restart button. So after way too much indulgence in Vegas, I decided to try a 3 day juice cleanse from Pure Simple Juice in Portland. The cleanse includes 5 different juices and a veggie or bone broth. (I chose the veggie broth.)

DAY 1
The beginning of this day was pretty easy. I'm used to eating pretty lightly during the day, so this wasn't a huge leap. I knew that I wouldn't be able to give up caffeine completely being the coffee addict that I am, so I decided that I would allow myself one cup of black coffee in the morning.

I struggled a bit when it came time for the carrot, apple, beet juice. The taste wasn't something I was used to, and it looked like I was drinking beet blood. The last juice of the day (a sweetened almond milk) is by far the best one. I think they do this on purpose to help you get through the day! There was a little nighttime hunger, but nothing too severe.

DAY 2
I woke up wondering where all my energy was. All of the reviews I read made me believe that I would feel energized and like a "new me." I kept drinking my juices and tried to work, but I found that I lacked focus and felt a little weak. I decided to work from home, and ended up going to bed early to fight the hunger.

DAY 3
The thought of drinking juice (especially the beet blood) was not appealing to me at all. I felt a little defeated and wanted to give up, but my inner perfectionist made me push on. I went to the studio, and work on some easy production tasks. The end of the day was the hardest. I was starving, and all I could think about was the fact the I hadn't had real food in over 72 hours.

I'm glad that I tried something new, but I'm not so sure this juicing thing is for me. I really didn't feel much better after, and I learned that I'm just not that into juice.

Have you tried or would you try a juice cleanse? -Kim
