A Moveable Feast

It may seem like I’ve lost my goal of going back to Paris in all of this jewelry craziness, but I assure you I think about Paris constantly. Often times, when I think of Paris, I think of Hemingway’s Paris as depicted in A Moveable Feast. I read this for the first time on my way to study in Paris. He talks about visiting cafés on the Boulevard St.-Germain, visiting with Gertrude Stein and borrowing books from Shakespeare and Company. He successfully captures the essence of life as an expatriate, and specifically in Paris.

Hemingway once wrote to a friend:

If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.

Paris plays such a significant role in my life, I’m not sure I will ever be able to love any city as much as I love Paris. I can’t wait to go back! I’d be completely content wandering the city, admiring its beauty and interesting inhabitants. I highly recommend reading this book. I’m going to re-read it as soon as I get a spare moment.

Now back to work for market number two!

Happy Wednesday!
